Non-breeding Ecology of Indian Skimmers at Nijhum Dweep National Park (Bangladesh)

Since 2015, this project has studied the non-breeding ecology of the globally endangered Indian Skimmer in Nijhum Dweep National Park and adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh. Regular monitoring assesses population size, distribution, seasonal patterns, foraging behaviour, and habitat use, helping to document the importance of the site for the species. The project also records major threats through field observations and stakeholder engagement, including pressures linked to fishing activity, disturbance, and habitat degradation.
