About CACN

The Central Asian Conservation Network (CACN) is a regional platform for NGOs, experts, and conservation practitioners dedicated to enhancing transboundary conservation across Central Asia and the Central Asian Flyway (CAF). Its goal is to create synergies and catalyze action on the ground to maximize conservation outcomes at the regional level. We facilitate information-sharing, capacity development, and transboundary programs with a focus on the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. CACN Members are independent non-governmental environmental organisations registered locally in CAF countries. The network coordinates and collaborates with various partners, including international organisations, international NGOs, government agencies, and research institutes, and aligns its work and objectives to support multilateral environmental agreements and their various instruments. The network implements its work through working groups and collaborative transboundary projects implemented by CACN Members, and is guided and supported by the Steering Committee. The CACN was initiated in October 2024 by the Youth Group for Protection of the Environment in Khujand, Tajikistan, and the Nature Foundation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and these two organisations currently act as the CACN hosts. The CACN’s Central Asian Flyway programme was launched in April 2025.
