About this project

Batumi Raptor Count (BRC) is a volunteer-based monitoring and conservation initiative focused on the Batumi bottleneck in Georgia—one of the world’s major raptor migration corridors. Each autumn, large numbers of soaring birds pass through this narrow passage, and BRC’s annual standardized counts generate a long-term dataset that supports research, conservation planning, and education. The initiative also builds capacity through training and traineeships and promotes awareness of migratory raptors and flyway conservation among local communities and international visitors. ## Key facts - **Target species/group:** Raptors and other migratory soaring birds - **Activity type:** Conservation; Research; Capacity building; Citizen science; Outreach - **Themes:** Raptors; Landbirds - **Implementing organization:** Batumi Raptor Count ## Key outcomes / expected outputs - Long-term monitoring dataset and scientific outputs - Education and outreach in the region - Training and traineeships for observers and conservation practitioners
