In a major breakthrough for global biodiversity conservation, the Fifteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS COP15) adopted this year a landmark Multi-species Action Plan (MsAP) to conserve bustards – one of the world’s most threatened groups of birds. The plan established a coordinated, science-based global framework to protect all 26 species of bustards across 102 range states, marking an unprecedented level of international collaboration for these iconic birds. In this webinar, we welcome the team behind this work, Dr. Nigel Collar, long-time Chair of the IUCN SSC Bustard Specialist Group; Mimi Kessler, Director, Eurasian Bustard Alliance; and Éva Fejes and Rainer Raab from Bustards Without Borders.
Dr. Collar will present an overview of the diversity and conservation of the world’s bustards showcasing remarkable images. The second half of the webinar will cover the steps that lie ahead to secure the conservation of these vulnerable species, including an overview of the Bustards MsAP, by the Bustards Without Borders Coordination Unit.
