Overview

This Working Group focuses on the development of the Regional CAF Database, a multilingual, open-access digital platform designed to centralize data, knowledge, and resources related to migratory birds and their habitats across the Central Asian Flyway.

Why a Regional Database Matters

Data across the CAF are currently fragmented- held by institutions, projects, and individuals in different countries and formats. This limits effective flyway-level planning, research, and policy engagement.

Key Objectives

  • Create a centralized data hub for the CAF
  • Improve cross-border data sharing and collaboration
  • Support research, conservation planning, and decision-making
  • Amplify education, outreach, and community engagement efforts

Core Components

  • Species, site, and threat data integration
  • Links to monitoring tools and working group outputs
  • Knowledge products, reports, and guidance documents
  • Interfaces supporting citizen science and local participation

Long-term Vision

An accessible knowledge platform that strengthens regional cooperation, informs policy, and supports evidence-based conservation across the CAF.
